2006-2007 Rules are up! posted by Lone Shepherd on August 17, 2006

Check'em out!

Then, head over to The Forum and tell us what you think!

2 Posts in 1 Week! posted by CwicSeolfer on August 11, 2006

First off:
The Forums might go down this weekend, if Mike starts fiddling with a phpbb update. We've got some trick "stuff" which means he has to hack the code. But, hopefully it'll also mean I don't have to delete 5+ spambots a day. We're sorry for the interruption... and hopefully Mike will save a backup of the forums so we won't accidentally lose data (hint hint).

Next:
I finally got it together, and went through all the Team Data Sheets that managed to migrate back to TerraBreak.org Headquarters after competition. So, all the information we have about the a/c and report scores is up. If you notice incorrect data, or perhaps a lack of data... feel free to email me with correct/new data. Also, we could use some summaries for the teams (250 words max), and a couple of PDF reports of the teams (we like to get 3 to give more selection than the mandated best scoring report available on the Official Site). The summary is pretty easy to whip up, and you can use it for soliciting donations, and or adding to the Department/College/Alumni news magazine (which could also help w/ fundraising). Besides, it might help you get perspective for next year. We'd write them for you... but we've got plenty on our plates as it is. ;)

Finally, we've got some staffing changes in the works, so we'll be updating the staff bio page soon too. I think that's all we've got on the board right now. So get back to class safe, and keep an eye out for the rules!

New DBF Sponsor posted by CwicSeolfer on August 09, 2006

In case you're not checking the Official Site everyday in anticipation of the new rules, there's a new sponsor to the competition replacing ONR... Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson Arizona.

I would think this change has been in the works since the end of competition 2005. Never-the-less, it is probably having an impact on the rules, and when they're being released. It will be interesting to see how much this shakes things up in the world of AIAA/Cessna/RMS D/B/F. Maybe they'll change the name to A/C/R/D/B/F? Perhaps there will be new challenges in the flight missions that utilize the expertise from RMS. It'll be interesting to watch things unfold.

So, anyhow, we'll be here to ride through this new wave of change in DBF. Feel free to "talk amongst yourselves"!
